Bright Futures – a New Start and the Way Forward
In January 2007, CRAC ended their national support for SIS and handed the responsibility to Simon Reichwald – a graduate expert with 15 years experience in the market. CRAC had inherited the SIS from the Industrial Society in 2000, which itself was founded in the early 20th Century. As part of taking the Society forward into the 21st Century, it has been re-branded as ‘Bright Futures’; set up as a not-for-profit; and a growth strategy has been put in place to ensure the Bright Futures Society is by far the largest non-political student organisation across the UK & Ireland.
“Our target is to have Bright Futures in 60 Universities by 2012, with a support & training infrastructure from the national team for all our committees that is second to none. As part of achieving this goal, the national team is also charged with increasing the number & diversity of organisations engaging with the Society every month.”
“Bright Futures is about providing a platform for all our student members to both find out about the plethora of careers available, and to really understand which ones are right for each individual, as well as develop the keys skills & values needed to not just secure a great graduate job but build a successful career” commented Simon Reichwald.
“We have 3 guiding principles to help our student members build ‘The Foundations for Success’.
1. Certainty of Purpose – Helping you know what you want to do and why
2. The Mastermind Principle – Surrounding you with individuals with experience and knowledge who can, and want to, help you achieve your ‘purpose’
3. Personal Responsibility – The Bright Futures National Team will provide the platform and infrastructure, how much you do with it is up to you!”
In the summer of 2008, a programme to reconnect with our Alumni from the last 30 years was started, and those who have got back involved from all over the world are proof that membership of this Society really does develop tomorrow’s leaders today.
